  • My Beauty for Ashes: The journey from brokenness to purposed Author Interview

My Beauty for Ashes is your personal journey in Christianity. Do you plan any follow-up books? Yes, I am actually working on my second book right now. I didn’t plan to write a second book, but the Lord told me that was his will. I thought writing my personal testimony was going to be a one-shot deal, but the Lord said otherwise. What do you think makes a great personal story? I think transparency is key. It’s important to be honest when you are telling your story. I believe readers can tell if you are sugar-coating the truth. Honesty is so important. What inspired you when writing My Beauty for Ashes? I knew that writing this book was not about me. God told me to write this book over 3 years ago, but I fought him. I thought about all the people God told me needed to read my testimony. He told me that my obedience in writing this book was tied to someone else’s breakthrough. What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full-time? Part-time? I think it will be part-time, but I’m not sure what God’s will is for me in this area. I am allowing him to order my steps. When did you decide to become a writer? One year ago in 2016, God dealt with my disobedience when I was in a wilderness season and I finally surrendered to the call on my life. I had no aspirations to become a write, but I loved the process. There is nothing like working on something for months and months and seeing it come to fruition. When writing My Beauty for Ashes, did anything stand out as particularly challenging? Yes, reliving my past was not easy; there were some very painful memories I had to write about. There were many times I just had to stop writing for a day or two because it was too much. What motivated you to write My Beauty for Ashes? All of the people God told me would experience breakthrough and healing after reading my testimony. They were my daily motivation while writing this book. What do you like to do when not writing? I love to listen to music, go the beach, and spend time with my daughter. How can readers discover more about you and your work? They can visit my website, http://www.toniashalel.com and visit my Instagram social media account. I minister daily to my followers. Readmore

  • The Seduction Challenge: A Sadomas novel HUGEOrange Publication Review

Seduction is ultimately about sex, which, in turn, is about reproduction. But the four friends entering The First European Seduction Challenge are not likely to get that far. A group of guys are chosen by a master seducer to become the team to win and get the million Euros prize money. Disenchanted with online dating, dating apps and unromantic match-making, they are intrigued by the Rebirther movement, which is sponsoring the contest. The Uni Dog team is socially awkward, lacking in sexual experience and love, one’s even half chimp! Along with their team leader, or sensei, Raymondo, they try to learn the art of seduction to become masters of love. Follow them on their strange and often hilarious international journey to become natural seducers and get selfies with beautiful women. They must examine themselves and each other to transform into the men they think they should be. “You see, we’d all had difficult pasts, which made us all the more exceptional in different ways, as well as pretty mad.” – Carl Don’t miss this wonderful, lively satire on the meaning of life and relationships that will keep you thinking about it long after you’ve finished. A witty narrative with wry humor that you won’t be able to put down. Readmore

  • The Lost Heir (The Dragonath Chronicles Book 1) Author Interview

The Lost Heir looks like a great start to a wonderful series. Do you plan for a third in the series? If so how far along is it? Thank you! Call to War will be the third and final in the series. It’s on schedule for release in Summer 2017. I’ve just got the first round of edits back from my editor, so it’s moving along nicely! What do you think makes a great story? Realistic, complex characters. Especially in Fantasy. I hate the vapid good or evil ‘just because the author says so’ characters. No one is perfectly good or totally evil in real life, and characters shouldn’t be portrayed that way either. In The Dragonath Chronicles, Mionee is a perfect example of the characters I love and that make great stories. I’ve had many people tell me they didn’t know if they should love her or hate her. And to me, that’s the best compliment. What inspired you when writing The Lost Heir? When I write, I’m inspired by just about everything around me. But for The Lost Heir in particular, it was a combination of my interest in there being other worlds similar to ours within our galaxy and my weird, overactive imagination. What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time? Luckily, I’m able to write full time, which is wonderful. My rather lofty ambitions are to be the next George R. R. Martin, Terry Brooks, or Robert Jordan. I don’t know if that will ever happen, but I’d love to have my name included up there with the greats. When did you decide to become a writer? There wasn’t a moment when I actually sat down and decided that I wanted to do this for a living. Rather, it happened quite by accident. I had started The Lost Heir just as something to do for fun. My mom had gotten me into reading, and I wanted to write it just for her to read. But I’m a huge procrastinator and am notorious for starting projects and never finishing them. So, nine years went by, and the book still wasn’t finished. Then, my mom died in April of 2011, and I thought, ‘sit your ass down in that chair and finish it for her.’ So I did. Once it was finished, I thought it couldn’t hurt to try to get it published, and things just spiraled from there. When writing The Lost Heir did anything stand out as particularly challenging? Honestly, there wasn’t anything that was particularly challenging other than getting myself to finish it! But once I was focused, the words just came to me, and the characters led me through the story. How did you come up with the story of The Lost Heir? I’ve always been interested in the possibility of other planets similar to Earth. I wondered what it would be like to suddenly find myself in another world, and the basic idea for The Lost Heir was born. Being a lifelong Fantasy lover, that was the natural genre, but I wanted to do something different than most high fantasy stories and decided to have Earth as part of the story. Darrak, the young man from Earth who’s the main char... Readmore

  • Our Pastor Has Gone Mad Again Author Interview

Our Pastor Has Gone Mad Again looks like a great personal story. Do you plan any follow ups? It is not a personal story as such. It is a collection of experiences from different sources. The general idea is that pastors make money off their congregation and live lavishly. This is the exception rather than the rule. Yes, a few pastors are successful, but for every successful pastor, there are at least one thousand unsuccessful ones. I have a personal friend, who died at 39 in the process of establishing a ministry in Colorado. I have friends, who toiled for years without making much progress at all. Do I plan any follow-ups? Yes. Actually, my second book is already in the works. It should be out in a couple months What do you think makes a great pastor? I am not sure how to answer that question. A great pastor in one part of the world may be a bad pastor in another part of the world. I am not even sure, if pastors are called to be great. Pastors are called to be faithful to their calling. It is required of servants to be found faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2; Luke 12: 42; Romans 14:12) In the sense that you imply, a pastor should fundamentally, be a man of faith and prayer. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. For he that comes to God must believe. A man of much prayer, much love.(Hebrews 11: 16, Acts 6: 8; 1 John 4: 8) I am not sure that God wants pastor to be great, the way the world implies greatness. What man calls a great pastor may be a total failure in the sight of God What inspired you when writing Our Pastor Has Gone Mad Again? The inspiration is to produce a book of faith, using day-to-day experiences of pastors and their church members. Most pastors today have to deal with issues that go far beyond "church" as it were - immigration, marriage, divorce, joblessness, homelessness, child abuse, just to mention a few. Pastors have to deal with the issues in church members' lives in addition to personal and family issues. By God's grace, some pastors are able to do this successfully. For many reasons, some are not able to handle this challenge very well What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time? I plan to continue to write part time, to highlight issues in Christianity, but not as a Bible scholar or theologian. From the perspective of a pastor, dealing with complex day-to-day issues When did you decide to become a writer? I have been writing for many years. I self-published two books in 2005 and 2006. I also frequently write my sermons or messages. Even during personal Bible study, I write instructions down. I also write during prayers. Some of the directions for the current book came during prayer. When writing Our Pastor Has Gone Mad Again did anything stand out as particularly challenging? Well, yes. I think bringing out this perspective that pastors make money off their church members. The truth is that a lot of pastors do struggle in ministry. The popu... Readmore
