How long did it take you to write it A Life of Heart?

I spent a long time working on this book, I know it has taken years of personal searching and looking for answers, and then actually physically writing the book took a few months.

What do you think sets your book apart from other self-help/confidence/success building books?

One thing I like to note about this book, is that is easy for the non-reader to get ahold of. If someone doesn’t like reading, this book is perfect because it’s not 600 pages long like most. I didn’t add any “fluff” to my book. I have a few stories to relate to topics, but those stories are short and everything I write about is dirt and to the point.

Another thing that sets mine apart, is the title itself. In my life I have encountered some difficulties and the “Heart” itself was one of those. My book is surrounded with practical and easy to implement suggestions on how someone can change themselves for the better in all aspects of life. And as I mentioned, if you don’t like reading, this book is perfect.

Which writers/books inspired you when writing A Life of Heart?

I definitely leaned on Brendan Burchard when thinking about the start of this journey. I know writing a book takes a long time when you look at the research, to drafting and then the final product. I also looked Tony Robbins for some guidance too. But overall, a lot of these things are what I implemented in my own life. I don’t feel it’s fair to write about things others should do, without first doing them myself.

What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time?

My writing career is just getting started, and I hope it turns into something amazing. Right now I am doing it part time, however, I should also state that I have also published a second book (also found on Amazon) and I am currently in the process of writing short stories that I will also turn into a Book of Short Stories. I am actively writing story number six.

When did you decide to become a writer?

The answer to why I became a writer is actually partly in my book A Life of Heart. I needed a change. I needed a new outlet, and without giving away all the details that are in the book, writing turned into my new outlet. It just so happened that I found myself thoroughly enjoying it and finding myself drawn to the pleasures of helping others with my words; whether for personal growth or just entertainment.

When writing A Life of Heart did anything stand out as particularly challenging?

Honestly, I don’t feel anything was that big of a challenge. If I had to pick something, it would be trying to make sure I didn’t write too much when it wasn’t needed. I could have easily added more to chapters, or added more chapters in general, but I didn’t’t want to provide a book that was as thick and heavy to digest as the others. I want something basic and approachable for every reader.

How did you come up with the ideas/concept of A Life of Heart?

The concepts, or chapters in this book are a reflection of what I believe are important fundamentals to someones day to day life. It doesn’t matter if you work at a fast food restaurant making minimum wage, or are the CEO of a fortune 500 company. The principles I talk about, are for both. I should also mention that these are my thoughts and feelings. There is nothing in this book that anyone has to 100% agree with, and that’s ok with me because everyone is entitles to their own opinion.

What do you like to do when not writing?

When I am not writing, I am helping take care of Ian, my son. I am a new father which brings it’s own set of challenges along with keeping my health a priority. I love movies, especially the James Bond films (I have all of them in a set!) I also like to Bowl because that kind of activity doesn’t require to much physical exertion. Spending time with family and friends is a must, and overall just enjoying the opportunities that life throws at me, or the opportunities I can go find on my own.

How can readers discover more about you and your work?

Readers can find my Short Stories Facebook Page called https://www.facebook.com/Jasonshortstories/, if they search me on Amazon they will find both of my books, and if anyone were to search for me in http://www.authorhouse.com/ they would find my books available in paperback and e-book styles.

Overall I want readers to know that I am genuine, and I care about others. The short stories are fiction and there for a fun, light read. But my other books A Life of Heart, and, Relationships: Under Construction - A 14 Day Journey Into Your Relationship, those are there to help and encourage and bring about growth and change for the better.
