Sinkhole – Gateway to Jonrah is your first published fiction book. How long did it take you to write and how far a long is book 2?
It took me about six months to complete this book. Book 2 I’m hoping will be out around June 2017.
What do you think makes a great story?
Good character development.
What inspired you when writing Sinkhole – Gateway to Jonrah?
I have always had a love for reading science fiction/fantasy books. I remember certain things that I enjoyed about certain books that I enjoyed most. I have taken different elements and plots from various books and added my own characters, creatures and events. I must say that I am very pleased with the results.
What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time?
I think my ambitions are like any other new writer and that is to become a bestselling author. I have always admired writers who could take a story and have it go on for multiple books. At this time, I have set three books for this series. But if I have a good following with the series, there’s always room for more. For now, I am just doing this part time.
When did you decide to become a writer?
I have wanted to write a book for some time now. I never did it because it seemed like such a hassle going through all the writing and then having to find a publishing company that would publish your book. Seemed like a lot of work with the hopes of “maybe” someone would think it is good enough. But now with Kindle publishing those worries are gone.
When writing Sinkhole – Gateway to Jonrah did anything stand out as particularly challenging?
Yes, there were two things. First was the chapter titles. I kind of wrote the chapters first and worried about the titles later. Second was having a good book description; something that would pull readers in and want to read my book. I looked at some descriptions from other books in my genre and got some good ideas.
How did you come up with the story of Sinkhole – Gateway to Jonrah?
I remember hearing a real-life story about a guy whose house was swallowed up by a sinkhole and they never found his body. I started thinking what if sinkholes were just gateways to other worlds or dimensions of our world. I liked the idea and ran with it.
What do you like to do when not writing?
I am currently working full-time and writing mostly on weekends.
How can readers discover more about you and your work?
I have an author page of Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cszbestsellingauthor/. And I also have a website: http://cindyzahn.com/. I am in the process of redoing my website. Most of my books prior to this one have been non-fiction. I have been toying around with the idea of having a website devoted to this title, but haven’t decided if I will do this. For now, I am dividing my site into fiction and non-fiction books. And I might create a Facebook page for the book, but, again, it’s just something I’m thinking about.
