My Sexy Stranger is the first of a series. How far along is the second book and how many total do you plan in the series?
The
second book, My Sexy Hero, is just about done and will be released
next month in February. There will be a total of three books, unless
I see a vision of a new adventure for the Wolfe Brothers.
What
do you think makes a great story?
There
are a few elements involved in making a great story. You have to have
characters that interest you, whether you love them or hate them. You
also have to have great pacing to your story in order to keep the
reader interested. I personally feel the most important aspect to a
great story is to keep constant tension in the narrative. It compels
the reader to turn to the next page because it personally involves
them. You want your reader to lose themselves and experience what’s
going on in the story like the characters, like they a have a stake.
What
inspired you when writing My
Sexy Stranger?
By
watching video footage of former Navy SEALs on YouTube. I found them
to be such interesting men. I particularly found the laid back
conversations they had with each other without the company of women
present to be fascinating. They have a culture most people do not
understand. They are either worshipped to the point of mythical gods
or vilified for being part of the evil U.S. military machine. In
reality, most of them do not brag about their time as frogmen. They
keep low profiles. There is an air of mystery to them. What perfect
source material to create the ultimate fantasy lover/mate for women.
This is what inspired me to create Grayson and Pierce Wolfe.
What
are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time?
Of
course full-time! I love writing and connecting to people. This is a
great age for fiction writers. Before, the bulk of the money for
writing had to be made in non-fiction. With the explosion of e-books
along with self-publishing no longer having the stigma it once had,
there are great lucrative opportunities for fiction writers.
When
did you decide to become a writer?
Since
I was a little girl by writing cartoon strips. I would also take my
favorite soap opera characters from different shows and crosshatch
them together. Basically I was writing fanfiction before it was
called fanfiction!
When
writing My
Sexy Stranger
did anything stand out as particularly challenging?
The
most challenging aspect was making sure the big surprise at the end
of the story paid off. That the readers bought it and that they are
hungry for more.
How
did you come up with the story of My
Sexy Stranger?
It
was originally supposed to be a stand-alone short story of the
standard erotica narrative of a one-night stand. However, as I was
writing, Savannah was giving me so much information about her life
and this stranger staring at her. It starts out as the stereotypical
meet-up in a bar as a prelude to sex, but there’s nothing typical
about how it ends. If anything, a whole lot of complex layers get
unearthed. Savannah and the reader, get a lot more than they
bargained for.
What
do you like to do when not writing?
I
am an online entrepreneur, so I work on my other businesses when I’m
not writing. I am a voracious reader. I also love the arts: museums,
the theater, the ballet, etc. I also love to travel. I was a born
listener. I love to listen to people tell interesting stories.
I’m
in the process of getting my own author website up. In the meantime,
