Stronger Than The Storm looks like a unique self-help book. Do you plan any follow up books?

Yes, I do. My plan is to expand upon The Survivor’s Toolkit within the book. There’s so much information to share with readers on simple, practical ways to make effective, healthy changes in their lives. Changes that will help them manage stress, face fears and doubt, and build confidence to step outside their comfort zone and reach for what they dream of.

What do you think makes a great self-help book?

Practical, how to advice that is easy to implement. Topics the readers can resonate with deeply that inspires and encourages desire to make change. When you can see yourself taking the steps one step at a time, and have small successes in doing so, you can visualize the end result.

What inspired you when writing Stronger Than The Storm?

As our storm cleared and we began picking up the pieces, we began sharing our story with a select few people. Each time people were blown away with what we went through and how positive we were. There began to be a common reaction amongst them… “You’d never have known you were going through that in your life. You were always so positive.” I was told often that I should write a book about it. That got me thinking…. Why not write a book? I’ve always wanted too.

It was then I began working on a platform for health and wellness because I spent so much time studying and implementing that topic to my life. It was time to step out of my comfort zone and be a bit vulnerable, so I began guest blogging. I started out blogging for a very popular health and wellness blog, Everyday Paleo. I’d blog about lifestyle and wellness to see how the response went. Soon after, I started my own blog www.innerstrengthandbeauty.com to expand in to all the things I love: health, wellness, beauty, recipes, family. It was an opportunity for myself to create change in my life. I can’t believe the blog coming up on a year this March and now I’m a published Author to boot!

What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time?

I’m currently part-time working toward making this my full time occupation. Step by step, I get closer to my goals. First the blog, then books, then coaching and courses. So see…I’m on my way, on step in front of the other!

When did you decide to become a writer?

I’ve actually always enjoyed writing. About ten years ago I took a stab at writing children’s books, thinking I could write some great books while my daughters were young, but timing and genre just weren’t right for me then. Fast forward to present day and I love writing self-help; it’s such a better fit for me; it’s exciting for me to be able to encourage and inspire others!

When writing Stronger Than The Storm did anything stand out as particularly challenging?

It was super challenging telling my story. It’s a vulnerable, honest, even sad at times memoir with a positive spin. But the process of being so honest always brought upon self doubt that it was necessary to go so deep. But the more I expanded on detail the better the book became. It was difficult to piece all those memories back together and really take a look from the outside in! But I know now, that’s what makes this book so special and effective in getting my message out to my audience.

How did you come up with the idea and concepts in Stronger Than The Storm?

We lived the story and did the work to get through it. The tools in the book are the exact things that pulled me through it and make me the best version of myself today – so I know they work. They are practical tools for healthy, everyday living. Tools to help you become your most authentic self.

What do you like to do when not writing?

I love training in the gym and taking hip hop dance classes. You can often find me taking a hike or long walk outside, cooking and hanging out with my husband and girls. I also spend a great deal of time reading and studying – not a big TV watcher, but I do love movies. I also find time to gather with friends and family as often as possible. Life’s too short to not work on those relationships in or lives!!
