Our Little Rainbow (Author Interview)

Our Little Rainbow looks like a cute book with wonderful illustrations. Any plans to release similarly themed books?

Although this particular book had a very strong theme, when it comes to childhood loss, there isn’t another one that I plan on doing that is very similar, in the childhood realm. My next childrens’ book will focus on a different subject. However, very similar to this book, I will be building a guided journal, catered to Moms that have experienced childhood loss, when it comes to dealing with, sorting through, and understanding those feelings and emotions of childhood loss.

What inspired you when writing Our Little Rainbow?

Id personally dealt with childhood loss. I had the unfortunate circumstances of losing two babies in pregnancy, before I had my little rainbow. I simply thought about that and remembered the emotions and feelings I felt, while writing it. I knew other parents would identify with it and feel the same.

What will readers get out of your book?

I hope that those who have dealt with pregnancy loss, understand that there are so many more of us that have also dealt with the same tragedy and realize that there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel. Its extremely difficult to process those feelings and more often than not, you feel alone; I wanted this book to let ones know that they are NOT alone.

When did you decide to become a writer?

I have been writing since I could hold a pen. Even in grammar school, I always wrote really good papers and excelled in any area that had to do with writing or reading. I won a poetry competition when I was 16 and at the same time had a nationally published poem.

When writing Our Little Rainbow did anything stand out as particularly challenging?

It was really difficult to connect with the feelings of childhood loss and acknowledge it. When it comes to losing a child in pregnancy, many of us just overlook it or act as though it never occurred. For a woman that dealt with it twice, writing this short, sweet book was an avenue for me to heal because I knew others would identify with it.

What do you like to do when not writing?

When Im not writing, Im chasing my 4 year old around, studying for my 2nd Masters degree, traveling and writing about my travels, running or practicing for another 5K race. I also am a huge cook and baker. I love restaurant hopping and being a foodie, as well as skating and finding new languages to learn.

Where can readers find out more about your work?

For now, my book is featured on Amazon at
https://www.amazon.com/dp/1651404305. Its very easy to check it out and oder. Other than that, any reader can always reach out to me via text or email and I will gladly respond.r
