I was pleased to have the opportunity to interview author Inshan Meahjohn on his inspirational children's book, The Story of the Little Candle.
The Story of the Little Candle looks like a great
book for kids to help build confidence and self-esteem. Any plans to turn the book into a series or
to publish similar content?
We are working on other books including self-confidence
building workbooks for children as well as an exciting, fun to play,
non-violent game that promotes a positive mental attitude. This new Android and
Apple compatible game will be available soon.
How did you come up with the story in The Story of the
Little Candle?
The Story of the Little
Candle came out of an effort to communicate complex life lessons to children in
a simple and effective way. It is an easy to follow tale that can help children
face challenges in a positive manner and empower them to overcome difficulties.
Children will easily identify with the main character who finds his light from
within and defeats the dark king, illuminating the entire kingdom. This
enchanting tale is supported by endearing illustrations that make the book a
joy for children to read. This powerful story can inspire kids to address
issues such as bullying, self-image, social skills and learning challenges,
while encouraging reading, creativity and visioning skills.
What is the age group for your readers?
This book was created for young readers but speaks to the
child in all of us.
What inspired you when writing The Story of the Little
Candle?
I have been
working to motivate and develop young people for many years, and I wanted to do
even more to change the world, starting with the children. This was the
inspiration for the Story of the Little Candle.
When writing The Story of the Little Candle did
anything stand out as particularly challenging?
The challenge was to create a story and characters that
would appeal to children globally, and this book has the potential to do just
that.
What do you like to do when not writing?
Mentoring, community development activities, international
consulting, and working on my PhD.
