The Broken Lift looks like an exciting story. Can you tell us a little about Lucca?
Lucca was a lone wolf - a brilliant, reclusive boy. Lucca possessed a gifted mind. His pure talent and stellar skills drew people towards him like a moth to a flame. Lucca didn’t care for it, inadvertently pushing away everyone who got too close. As a bespectacled recluse, Lucca’s greatest pet-peeve was fun and friendships. As an ambitious nerd, his greatest fear was being unchallenged. Yet his easy-going life changed when he moved to America.
Even the smartest of us let our guards down when money and power is on the line.
One misstep changes Lucca’s life forever—he finally gets a front seat watching how society’s seediest underbellies do business. Has Lucca finally bitten off more than he can chew? Or can he use his brilliance to outsmart his opponents and finally live the life he wants?
This lone wolf won’t go down without a fight. The circumstance might not be in Lucca’s favor, but it’s not his first time facing odds stacked high against him. With the love of his life by this side, the stakes are higher than ever.
That’s an amazing cover. Can you tell us a little about it?
The cover’s idea and design were made by my brother “Younes Mounjid”. He drew 3 different designs, but that one got something special, once I saw it, I told him: “This is it… this is my book cover.” I want to take this opportunity to thank him for helping me out with his ideas.
Any plans to turn it into a series?
Yes of course, that’s one of my objectives. Actually, I’ve received a phone call a couple of weeks ago from the agent of a well-known Dutch Producers. They want to turn the story into a series, they’ve asked me if I’m willing to write the 2nd part of the novel and my answer was yes as I’ve already started writing the major events.
The negotiations are going on and I hope that we finalize it and we move forward to the next step.
Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing The Broken Lift?
I’ve spent 4 months writing “The Broken Lift” and stuck 3 weeks in how to finish it. The end of the story was a big challenge for me, I’ve even though sometimes about letting it down. Because if the end is not as good as the novel, it’s better to not publish it. The readers are expecting suspense and mysterious events and they will never tolerate the disappointment.
What do you like to do when not writing?
I’m a huge fan of Football and I’m always watching my favorite teams’ games, I’m a former Tennis player in the Belgian League as well and I’m still training with my coach whenever I get the chance because I’m always on a plane. As a director in one of the largest manufacturers in the Middle East, I’m travelling 4-5 times a month.
