Becoming a Peaceful Powered Leader looks like a great guide to real leadership.  What can you tell us about it?

The book evolved from my journey to find peace and it focuses on taking the reader on an adventure to open-up space for their personal reflection journey. It is written with deliberate intent to help provide leaders with a toolkit for becoming more peaceful and fueling their peace with power—by replacing often ineffective external efforts with powerful internal shifts.

Parts of the reader’s voyage involves authentic and vulnerable examples from my own leadership challenges throughout my journey, and with the help of some powerful thought leaders, the book creates a safe space to stimulate honest self-reflection for readers.

Additionally, readers can expect to step into application as they read the book through exercises that allow the reader to work toward going from awareness to application, not after finishing the book, but while working their way through it. Along the way, they’ll be provided with thought strategies fueled by questions asked, exploration of personal values and how those values connect to purpose, not just at work, but in all areas of life, and how all pieces allow each individual to truly set and own their reality.

How long did it take you to write Becoming a Peaceful Powered Leader?

While the lessons learned were years in the making, the process of writing the book, interviewing thought leaders, and developing the exercises spanned three years.

What inspired you when writing Becoming a Peaceful Powered Leader?

One of my values is connectedness and it guided the inspiration. The people I had the privilege to serve through leadership and the numerous leaders I’ve coached or worked with in leadership development workshops over the years, who were trying their best, but often felt it wasn’t good enough, fueled my passion to write this book.

What motivated you to become a writer?

My purpose is to help others grow and develop and inspire them to take action toward their goals. Along with this purpose, I’m a storyteller and have been sharing stories of learnings, failures, successes, and more from my own and others’ leadership journeys, from stages for years. I wanted to combine the storytelling and provide a coaching resource that helped leaders find answers to many areas both new and seasoned leaders bring forward in workshops and coaching sessions. I found through written word a resource could be provided for leaders to carry with them on their journey.

How did you come up with the ideas in Becoming a Peaceful Powered Leader?

The ideas developed through my personal journey and research to grow and develop as a leader, through exploration with thought leader interviews, and the common questions, frustrations, struggles, and successes brought forward by leaders in workshops and coaching sessions. Leaders, myself included, worked regularly to put their best foot forward in serving those they have the privilege to lead and provide their organizations the outcomes and results asked for, all while feeling like it often isn’t enough. Through all of this, I found six key pieces that any leader can work towards to achieve and own their peace. Becoming a Peaceful Powered Leader is a unique journey packed with tools, research, and experienced advice provided to demolish the slag weighing leaders down to become a truly peaceful powered version of themselves every day.

Can you tell us a little about your background?
