"Yes, Veronica, You Are a Girl!" is a heartwarming children's book that follows the journey of Veronica, a young girl who questions her gender identity. Faced with confusion about her true self and societal expectations, Veronica embarks on a mission to unravel the essence of being a girl. Through her exploration, she learns that embracing her individuality and pursuing her passions are the key to understanding her identity. She learns that her gender is not defined by her interests.  With its captivating illustrations, this book encourages children to embrace authenticity, and their natural gender empowering them to forge their unique path in life.

What motivated you to write the book?

The motivation behind writing "Yes, Veronica, You Are a Girl!" stemmed from the recognition of the challenges and confusion children face regarding gender identity in today's society. Witnessing these struggles, I was inspired to create a book that would offer guidance and support to young readers. My aim was to inspire children to embrace their gender and love themselves, regardless of societal expectations. By fostering self-confidence and encouraging children to be true to who they are, I believe we can empower them to navigate their journey of self-discovery with courage and authenticity.

What age group did you write the book for?

While "Yes, Veronica, You Are a Girl!" is primarily written for children aged 5-10, I believe it can also be a valuable resource for parents to read to younger children with appropriate parental guidance. By engaging in open and age-appropriate discussions, parents can help younger children navigate topics of gender identity and self-acceptance in a supportive manner. The book's heartwarming story and beautiful illustrations provide an opportunity for parents and children to explore these important themes together, fostering understanding, empathy, and self-confidence.

Can you tell us a little about Veronica?

Veronica, the main character of "Yes, Veronica, You Are a Girl!" is a young girl who embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Veronica's curiosity leads her to explore activities that are traditionally considered "boyish," which further deepens her uncertainty. Throughout the book, Veronica's determination and courage shine as she seeks to understand the true meaning of being a girl. Along the way, she learns that embracing her authentic self and pursuing her passions are the key to finding happiness and fulfillment. Veronica's character serves as an inspiration for young readers, encouraging them to embrace their unique identities and follow their hearts.

How did you come up with the title for the book?

The title "Yes, Veronica You Are A Girl" was born out of the central theme of the book: embracing one's true identity. I wanted a title that captured the essence of self-discovery and validation. Veronica's journey reflects the broader experience many children face when questioning their gender identity, and the title encapsulates the affirmation and self-acceptance that is at the heart of the story.
