• Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19 (Author Interview)

https://books2read.com/u/mVw5Y5 Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19 looks like a timely and important book for children. What age group is the book for? This picture eBook is for children five years and up, ideally to be read with an adult. What inspired you when writing Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19?  I heard of friends and colleagues whose children were confused by the COVID-19 pandemic situation. I secured the backup and support of like-minded friends and colleagues in the production of a free eBook to support children. Can you tell us a little about your background? I write semi-fictional stories that cover business and technology subjects. I also have a background in business analysis, coaching and training. The books I write feature the Carnsa family (one retiree, three adults and three children). They apply tools and techniques typically used in the office at home.  How did you come up with the story in Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19? A few weeks before I finished writing the Haley and Comet learn about Kanban picture book targeted at young children. It featured the youngest twins Haley and Comet. I decided the twins could learn about COVID-19 from the adults in the family.  Did anything stick out as particularly challenging when writing Haley and Comet Learn About COVID-19? I am grateful to the teacher and parental feedback received. However, it wasn't easy to incorporate the feedback into less than 500 words. I am still getting used to the picture book format. What do you like to do when not writing? Catching up on sleep or reading crime novels. Where can readers find out more about your work? • The Birds of Paradise (Author Interview)

www.amazon.com/dp/B083SR8L7X/   The Birds of Paradise looks like a fun children’s book.  What age group is it for? ANS: Originally intended for ages 5 to 10, I’ve found out that kids from two years on up enjoy the story by looking at the art will the story is read to them. How did you come up with the story in The Birds of Paradise? ANS:  My three-year-old grandson and I were taking a fairly typical Saturday morning hike along the trail from Ventura, Ca. Ojai.  Along the way, my grandson began stopping to look at the many springtime flowers in bloom.  When he came across the bird-of-Paradise he was infatuated and asked about it. I began by telling him that at one time that flower was once the most beautiful bird in the sky and proceeded to tell the story of what is now The Birds of Paradise – The Favor children’s book.            What will readers get out of your book? ANS:  This is a story about finding the good in everyone; or that there is good in everyone and it only takes encouragement and opportunity to bring out the best in someone. What inspired you when writing The Birds of Paradise?    ANS:  As mentioned above, my grandson inspired the telling of The Birds of Paradise, but what inspired me while on that Southern California walk was his (Dylan’s) reaction as I made up each part of the story.  His excitement and his contributions for example.  It was he who introduced the idea of the witch as we passed a darkened hole in a stone cliff.  And the further I took my story, the greater his contributions.  It took me at least a year after our walk to sit down one afternoon, and the entire story just unfolded within a matter of hours. When writing The Birds of Paradise did anything stand out as particularly challenging?   ANS:  While writing, I ran into problems with my metering, and my writing creativity took me into an unconventional style.  I had my story professionally edited and my reviewer pointed out some of my unconventional style.  She likened me to trying to be a Dr. Seuss! While such a great writer never crossed my mind while writing, I did see some similarities, and brought my story back into the more conventional style of poetic writing. What do you like to do when not writing? ANS:  When I am not writing I am constantly thinking about my next story to write.  When doing neither I work on genealogy, video transfers and musical editing, and good ole fashion home remodeling projects.  Generally, every other weekend I make a trip from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area to see my daughter, son and their families. Where can readers find out more about your work? ANS: I am developing a website, www.adventure-stories.... Readmore

  • Kingdom of Bahrain (Author Interview)

www.amazon.com/dp/0578528789/   Kingdom of Bahrain: Political Review looks like an in-depth look into Bahraini politics.  What motivated you to write the book?            As a fulltime Political Consultant and a researcher I always struggled to source credible information on elections analysis, MP’s performance, and political history. By making such information available in one publication I know I did a huge favor to many proffessionals seeking such data. What will readers get out of your book?             I’m certain they will find it rich and very informative. The Book contains certain parts of Bahrain’s history that were never documented before, let alone in English. They will surely get a better understanding of what Bahrain is really like, and get a closer look on specific incidents that changed the course of history on the island. As well, detailed elections data, history of legislations, Constitutional amendments, Human Rights, Women Rights progress and a detailed timeline of Iran’s intervention record in Bahrain’s affairs.    What inspired you when writing Kingdom of Bahrain: Political Review?                Two things did; one was the amount of information that those who took part in reshaping Bahrain that are not documented, made me feel obliged to interview them in person to understand the reason behind the deciesions, and the rationale behind the headlines. Some of them passed away later, and I feel lucky now that I spent time with such pioneers while they were among us. The second reason was always the well to present my country’s unbiased political history in one book. Since almost everything else that was written before was either politicized or missing a lot of information.  Therefore we made sure this book presents actual facts and not heresay, as we kept our opinions to ourselves, to deliver the first comprehensive publications of it’s kind. When writing Kingdom of Bahrain: Political Review did anything stand out as particularly challenging?               The biggest challenge of all was certainly the availability of data. Many claimed to know or to have proof of their claims, but very few agreed to share them. Another challenge was the inconsistency of the information itself. Both challenges made things harder for us to collect and exmine. A major example were the Municipal elections results of 2002; each newspaper published differint numbers. We actually called and met the candidates to clarify the information individually and came out with accurate information never seen before in result.   What do you like to do when not writing?        &... • MOLL LAURIE (Author Interview)

www.amazon.com/dp/B087M6MXK2/    Moll Laurie looks like a scary story.  Any plans to turn it into a series? There is no plan for that now. In the sense of making a series, I’m more focused on mythos building. Moll Laurie, while being a stand alone work, is the introduction to the bigger world building of my stories. Can you tell us a little about Elmo Heffley?   Elmo Heffley is the anti stereotype of typical male hero tropes. Doubtful and edgy, he represents the male persona of wanting to appear strong while being deeply flawed inside. There is nothing that would describe him as being a desirable alpha male. This is intentional as I wanted to feature one aspect of male gender role mostly overlooked in today’s action hero trope; that is by being a very responsible person.            If you had to compare your book to another which would it be? I suppose that would be Stephen King’s Carrie. As a child in the 1980s, watching Carrie the film on tv was quite engaging to me simply because the story was very simple to follow. I first read the book in 1993 when a friend borrowed it to me. The eloquent thematic use of ‘blood’ was like a symphony. It wasn’t disgusting. The feeling was more like ‘blood’ having a personified character of its own and that it weaved itself in and out of the story giving an aura of ‘something happening, something coming, something already here but you can’t see it yet.’ What inspired you when writing Moll Laurie?    Supernatural goings on are abound in every culture on earth. More often than not, the subject is viewed from our own cultural lens and nothing else. So Moll Laurie attempts to present a point of view that is valid in another sense but unknown due to readers having never known about it before. When did you decide to become a writer? The decision didn’t come easy to me. I’ve always been a talented boy who can read good at age 8 and went on to sample everything that a young boy could sample from reading and recall at the drop of a hat. But as an adult, this ability became dulled as it was not actually needed in my everyday job and everyone’s expectation of me. So what began as a pastime writing hobby in adulthood became an introspection of myself., of how much I have strayed far from the boy that I was. It was a painful realization that I had ended up on the cookie cutter. So now, I would like to reconnect back to the eager boy that I was, to restart everything anew. When writing Moll Laurie did anything stand out as particularly challenging?   It’s trying to make sense of the story. I can understand it. The real challenge would be whether my readers can understand it or not. I cannot expect my readers to immediately perceive how a particular plot element became so. I had to guide them to make sense otherwise everything would just end up as ridiculo... Readmore

  • Keto Diet (Author Interview)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087DZ2TQN    Keto Diet looks like a healthy guide to eating for those looking for a low carb diet.  Can you tell us a little about the book? Our lifestyles are filled with activities, ranging from schooling and education to trying to find the perfect work life balance. Ketosis, or Keto, for short, falls within your day-to-day activities. In short, yes, it is a low-carb lifestyle, but it is also a way to better oneself in how they look, feel, and go about their days. We have all heard of Keto, heck, looking back at the last 30 years we have seen dozens, if not hundreds of diet ‘fads’ go by. Yes, I said ‘fad,’ as much of what has happened in the past did not have the scientific research to back it up. As with science, diets have evolved, and Keto has stress-tested some of the deepest researches on your health. Keto, in short, is a limitation of your carbohydrates for a prolonged period of time, thus getting the majority of your caloric intake from fats, and to a lesser extent, protein. Fats are not bad, it is the type of fat, that is. Keto is a lifestyle, and eating avocadoes, olive oil, pecans, pistachios, wild-caught salmon and grass-fed beef, is perfect. You can be a vegan, too! In this book, I break down what keto is, show scientific evidence behind certain ‘issues’ that tend to come up, like blaming high cholesterol on the amounts of beef and eggs that one eats, and show ways why Keto is a great lifestyle to follow. Who is your book for? Anyone who is looking to find a great way to feel better, live a healthier lifestyle, have more energy, and have a better mood! You don’t have to be over-weight to go on keto, but you do have to be motivated to change your perspective on living a healthier life! While this is used by people of all ages, I do recommend that you should be at least 18 years old, and if you have underlying health conditions, please consult with your physician. What inspired you when writing Keto Diet?    I have also had a love for well-being. I was overweight in high school and carried that into college. Upon graduation, I landed a job on Wall Street, and knew that my life had to change. That’s what kick-started my journey to healthy habits. I became involved in online health forums, where I was a moderator for the biggest forum ever created. I studied the science behind diets and muscles, and became an aficionado. Life caught up with me about ten years later, had two children, and my life went on a spiral of unhealthy habits. Like others, I was getting into an awkward place where my health was deteriorating, and I needed to ‘kick start’ the engine, so to speak. Got back into healthy eating, caught up with Pubmed (an online scientific publishing journal) and decided to show how important, a well-established and healthy diet is and that was the baseline for this book. Why did you decide to become a writer? Can n... Readmore

Harmony Rediscovered: The Neuroscience of Sustainability

https://tr.ee/avELizYwHk

In "Harmony Rediscovered: The Neuroscience of Sustainability," readers are invited on a journey that bridges the gap between cognitive neuroscience and the pressing global need for sustainable living. Combining the latest research from the field of neuroscience with the principles of eco-conscious behavior, I explain how our brains respond to the environment and how our lifestyle choices impact not only our own well-being but also the health of the planet.

Through a series of thought-provoking chapters, I explore the neurobiological roots of conflict and cooperation, the effects of modern living on brain health, and the benefits of aligning our lives with sustainable practices. Drawing on personal experiences and real-world examples, this book offers a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities that come with striving for harmony in a chaotic and competitive economy.

"Harmony Rediscovered" is a call to action for individuals and societies to reflect on our values and behaviors in the face of ecological crisis. It challenges us to consider the bigger picture, reminding us that our collective efforts can lead to a more sustainable, fair, and flourishing future for all. Engaging, enlightening, and deeply moving, this book is a must-read for anyone passionate about making a positive impact.
