iSin is your second published book. Do you plan for any follow ups?
Yes, there will be at least two more books in the iSin Series; this read shows how to activate the "2.0 Version" of oneself and go from Level 1 Energy to at least high Level 2 Energy and potentially begin to live in Level 3 Energy (depending on the reader's willingness and openness to the material being discussed); the next read which will activate the "3.0 Version" of oneself will focus more on anyone who consistently lives in Level 2 Energy and would like to make a "breakthrough" to constantly live and dwell in Level 3 Energy; the next book will simply go much deeper into the concepts that this first read lays out and explains.
Do you plan on any other versions of iSin or listing them on vendors like Amazon?
Yes, there are currently two versions of iSin with the "Clean Version" and the "Explicit Version." Also, an audiobook will be created in the near future, and there already is an active blog on the website that will only continue to grow as the iSin readership and community grows. iSin will be available on Amazon and all of the major reading outlets; I am expecting to have my ePub and Mobi files back from my editor any day now. You currently and always be able to purchase the PDF Version from the website (www.iReadiSin.com). While on the website, be sure to become an e-mail subscriber as I will be offering exclusive content and giveaways to my loyal subscribers!
What do you think makes a great self-help book?
The best self-help material is the material that enables the reader to "self-reflect" and inspires the reader to think, decide for themselves to help themselves; hence, I cannot "fix you" because no one can LOVE and KNOW you the way you can LOVE and KNOW yourself! iSin does give you a framework that makes it simple and easy for you to truly LOVE yourself which will enable you to begin to tap into the GREAT and BOUNDLESS POTENTIAL that is residing within YOU and all individuals for that matter! iSin is a "self-reflective, inspirational read" that INSPIRES the reader to EMPOWER themselves rather than a typical "self-help, motivational" read that "talks at or down" to the reader with demanding advice. The only way to truly help someone is to INSPIRE someone to think and decide for themselves by laying out good, thought-provoking yet "common-sense" material that is simple to understand. Lastly, for a self-help author to be believable, the author should have dealt with whatever issues are being discussed first-hand for the most part; for example, I don't want to hear someone who has never drank a drop of alcohol try to tell anyone else how to beat alcoholism because this person would be incapable of truly knowing or relating to the subject matter of alcoholism. Great self-help reads speak from the heart of first-hand experience which is what 90% of iSin was written from (my first-hand experiences)!
What inspired you when writing iSin?
Seeing my entire life the emotional or spiritual battles those I love currently go through or have gone through along with my many of my own emotional (spiritual) challenges. Every section of this book was written with someone I know and love or myself in mind; this is what makes every topic discussed in iSin so relevant and pertinent to the reader because the issues discussed are commons issues EVERY person from EVERY walk of life goes through to some degree; hence, EVERY person is in a battle with themselves via their own mind to claim and live in their light (love, joy, and peace) and not live in darkness (sin, agony, and sorrow)! Side note, being religious or not-religious is irrelevant for ALL have emotions and are in a FIGHT for their LOVE yet most have never learned how to USE both negative and positive emotions for their benefit which is one of the things iSin specializes in explaining and doing.
What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time?
I'm a full time writer and fully committed to building a long-term career around iSin and my writing because writing and discussing this material is how I feel I can truly benefit others the most and, personally, is what satisfies and fulfills me the most, internally!
When did you decide to become a writer?
I published my first book back in 2011 (it is decent, by the way, and nothing too special), and towards the end of going through that process I just fell in love with writing and knew I wanted to do it again (although, honestly, I didn't know what I was doing through 90% of writing my first book and it was a financial flop).
When writing iSin did anything stand out as particularly challenging?
My #1 goal when writing iSin was for it to be entertaining where the reader would be excited and not lose focus once opening the book up. One of my "brothers" I mention in the book (who is also my roommate) hates to read so I knew when I got him to say, "Damn, Shay that's really good!" I knew I had something special. By the way, it only took me around 8 weeks to get that response from him-- haha!
The most challenging part of writing iSin was figuring out how to organize the book, because I knew I did not want to write a "normal book" that was laid out in a "normal, predictable way." Furthermore, I wanted the book to be more of an "interactive journey" that flowed together and had a "story or movie vibe to it" that took you all over the place yet as it progressed would begin to "tie the lose ends together" and make logical sense; I wanted to truly make something special that would inspire the reader yet leave the reader wandering what would be next. The final product and quality of iSin have become more than I could have imagined (just to be completely honest) as I accomplished all of the previously mentioned goals and much, much more with it! Hell, I even have specific songs from every different genre of music listed that go with every chapter of the book and relate directly with the material being discussed; furthermore, I made Spotify playlists that the reader can follow with the songs listed in chronological order with the book; so, if you are a music lover as I am or a deep, open-minded thinker, then you will want to revisit and re-read iSin a few times with trying out the music listed because the music will really make the words and material become "ALIVE" to you that much more!
Last thing, for anyone who really wants to delve deep into iSin you will find that there is NOTHING random about how iSin is written; all of the chapters flow into one another with synchronicity that will really make sense by the end of the book; furthermore, if you read the book SLOW, then you may find yourself going back to say, "Holy shit! I see what he just did there!" (Haha!)
How did you come up with the concepts of iSin?
I knew I wanted iSin to have a modern, realistic vibe to it and after one of my friends mentioned the iPhone, I knew I was on to something. The iPhone is perfect for the modernness I wanted to create with iSin along with the apple logo for the iPhone as the apple correlates perfectly with Eve taking a bite out of the apple as the first "sin" in the Bible. Well, iSin's logo is an apple core, because we ate the WHOLE DAMN apple! (Haha!)
