  • Whinny of the Wild Horses AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DDXP6FY/ What inspired you when writing Whinny of the Wild Horses? I was enjoying riding lessons and wanted a horse of my own. I heard that it was possible to adopt a wild horse at a Bureau of Land Management auction for only $125. I began researching wild horses. I soon realized that I didn’t have the skills necessary to train a wild horse (the domesticated horse I eventually got turned out to be wild enough for me) but all the research led to the book. What are your ambitions for your writing career? I’m a full time writer with seven children’s books so far. Besides Whinny of the Wild Horses, I’m the author of Noah's Ark Pet Care Club and the Kayla Montgomery mystery series which includes Eye of Truth, Thirty Pieces of Silver, Deliver Us From Evil, Lead Us Not Into Temptation, and Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing.  When did you decide to become a writer? I began writing after my last child was born. Ironically, it takes me about nine months to write a story. How did you come up with the story behind Whinny of the Wild Horses? My novels reflect my love of nature and animals, especially horses. I was a fourth grade teacher for many years and could draw from experiences at school for my characters. A trip out west to view wild horses helped me with setting and an action-packed plot. What do you like to do when not writing and creating these books? I love to hike with my dog, bike, cross-county ski, play tennis, and horseback ride. How can readers discover more about you and your work? Please visit my website at www.laundrie.com. Readmore

  • Inca Cat Series AUTHOR INTERVIEW

THE INCA CAT SERIES BY R.F. KRISTI (www.incabookseries.com) Inca Book Series is a two-part series. Do you plan for any follow ups or additional books? I am planning 6 books to be associated with the escapades of Inca the Siberian kitty. The third in this series, ‘Cats in Provence’ is due to be launched sometime in February 2017. Inca & Company, the detective agency headed by the adventure loving Inca will hunt an art thief in Provence and Paris, France. The forth will probably be centered in London, but thoughts for the fifth book, to be based in Asia, is germinating. What do you think makes a great children's story? A story for children, in my opinion, should be multifaceted: A fun read but also a learning tool to introduce vocabulary development, exposure to different cultures and varied subjects; and above all foster the love of animals. What inspired you when writing the Inca Book Series? The intelligence and allure of cats has always enchanted me. The idea for the Inca Cat Series came to me, rather from living and observation- and the details in a strange way, from reading. I don't think we choose our genre, I think that a genre chooses us or should I say, Inca and Cara my own cats made the choice inevitable. What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time? I am currently a full-time writer. I am hoping that this series will gradually gain a wider audience and allow me to contribute proceeds of book sales to animal rescue efforts globally, particularly in developing countries. When did you decide to become a writer? Writing the Inca Cat Series arose out of the blue. I had never dreamed of writing stories for children. I am rather nostalgic and like a more ordered world. From watching and interacting with both my cats, Inca and Cara, the Inca Cat Series was born. Loving a good mystery, when I started writing about the cat adventures, the ideas started flowing. When writing the Inca Book Series did anything stand out as particularly challenging? My specialty, due to my work with the United Nations concentrated on writing reports of a technical nature. A world much removed from the milieu of children’s books. I struggled at the beginning to simplify vocabulary and to make the sentence structure readable by a younger audience. How did you come up with each story? The details of the first story evolved for my love of my own cats Inca and Cara, for which I based two principal characters in the Inca Cat Series. I never read romantic novels, science fiction nor fantasy stories. Detective stories on the other hand have me hooked. Hence, naturally without too much thought, I seem to turn to mystery plots for coming up with each story. What do you like to do when not writing and creating these books? I am an avid reader and a yoga addict. I also like to devote time to helping animal rescue efforts. How can ... Readmore

  • Check it out here:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/1539921018/ Wordsearch and Crossword Puzzles: 50 States is your first published book. Do you plan for any follow ups or additional books? I plan to follow up with several similar books. I will probably do a poll on my Facebook author page on different themes I have in mind (this first book’s theme was obviously the 50 states). What do you think makes the perfect crossword puzzle? A typical crossword puzzle is to test your existing knowledge, but I like crossword puzzles that make me go hunting for new information. I am a lot more likely to retain the information, as well. What inspired you when writing/creating Wordsearch and Crossword Puzzles: 50 States? Well-crafted word games are great because they help your verbal skills, sate your curiosity and make learning new things fun. I was never very good at listening to lectures or reading dry textbooks. So, I thought that others might enjoy word games that make learning fun and entertaining. What are your ambitions for your writing career? Full time? Part time? I plan to continue this concept of themed puzzle books. Realistically, this will be a part time pursuit for now. I have a concept for a more traditional “book” in mind; that project is currently in the planning stages. It will contain a lot of my more personal stories, experiences and insights, in the hope that they will help others who have struggled with similar concerns and issues. When did you decide to become a writer? I discovered I was a writer when I learned to write. I have always had an imagination and a creative nature, so writing was my first true medium. Learning to write simply allowed me to transfer some of my imagination and creativity to a shareable medium. When writing Wordsearch and Crossword Puzzles: 50 States did anything stand out as particularly challenging? As this is a self-published book, I had to do the technical part of design and formatting, which was a challenge. For example, I learned how to format documents for a book, rather than an academic report or a professional memorandum. Although it was challenging at times, I also had a blast and felt a sense of accomplishment each time I managed to master a new skill. How did you come up with the concept of Wordsearch and Crossword Puzzles: 50 States? I have been learning about new ways to share your creativity and hard work. There are all sorts of possibilities, so I decided to try self-publishing first. I got to combine my love for the English language, my natural curiosity and desire to try new things into one package. I am also passionate about making learning fun and exciting, not dull and repetitious. This book is a fun way to do that, for kids, puzzle lovers, etc. I also wanted to reach out to people interested in learning more about the very distinct and unique characteristics of the fifty states in the Union. What do you like to do when not writi... Readmore
